Hi all,

On my dads PC, when 'Start' hasn't been clicked for a while, there is quite a long pause (a few seconds or so) after clicking before the start menu actually pops up. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how to stop it from happening?

It's very irritating to say the least!

Thanks,

Michael.

Maybe a program or something that it is trying to find? oddly I remember having a similar problem with my computer but it didn't do it in safe mode.... I didn't bother to fix it though as I was actually preparing to format at the time.

It's because once you start using other memory intensive apps, like Photoshop or a game for example, it will purge the start menu items from the RAM to free up space for Photoshop or the game. When you click it again, it needs to re-load the start menu items from the hard disk.

My dad does use Photoshop to open and edit a lot of photos at once.
