Wrong forum, but yes they have created Wipeout HD which will be downloadable off the PSN 'Summer 2008' and will be 1080p@60fps and feature online races. I cannot wait!

I seem to remember Wipeout 2097 made it to the PC way back when 3DFX were around.

Exclusive to PSN. If that's not reason enough to buy a PS3, nothing is.

Trailers look good, but it seems they have gone for "MOAR GRAPHICS, LESS GAME" as it only includes 8 tracks and limited ships compaired to past games.

Wipeout Pure and Pulse on the PSP have been my favorate recent Wipeout games, and then theres the original, 2097 and 3 on the PS1 that were just awsome. The N64 version and Fusion on the PS2 were all a bit pants.

PSN

Before PSN or Live they never had a way of selling extra content to gamers but now they can sell you a game with minimal content but full price then sell expansion packs later on. Makes great business sense but we gamers lose out

Thats not entirely true, its not a full game, its meant to be a graphical update of Wipeout 1. There will be a proper sequel to follow, although considering how long its taken to make this one, **** knows when that will be.

I understand it's a remake but i'm willing to bet cold hard cash you will be able to buy extra content at a later date. Pre - PSN they might have included some extra tracks to make the game more appealing.

This is the one thing that drives me mad with Sony, Delays! it seems like you have to wait forever and a day to get those must have games etc.

Yeah I tried playing it a while back. Unfortunately it featured no frame limiter and ran too damned fast on modern hardware. Even with vsync enabled it was bonkers.

yeah I can play it on my old machine but no way it runs on my current rig.

I doubt it will be full price. I think I heard Sony Liverpool are also making a proper full PS3 wipeout game too, as well as Wipeout HD.
