Yeah again :>

More specifically a little search brought up a considerably older thread that I thought a little old to be bumping but some suggested using Valeo Silencio X which you can buy from wiperblades.co.uk

I was just wondering has anyone had any experience with these blades and/or this company?

Ta :)

PIAA Silicone wipers are the best VFM I've spent aftermarket. This is from somebody who gets weirdly upset about wiper blades

Worth every penny. (sorry that didn't answer your question btw)

Valeo are a french company and supply wipers direct to car manufacturers such as ford. I have tried the ford direct replacement parts and the silencio ones and both seem the same right down to the little sticker that goes yellow with age to tell you when to replace them. Saying that either the ford ones or the valeo branded ones clear the screen and are silent so no false claims :)

Man speaks the truth, probably the best aftermarket part I've added.

Agreed.

Only issue I had was that I put these onto my company car, then 2 months later when it went in for a service, the muppets changed them for some useless pieces of tosh  for absolutely no reason.

Of course, I didn't notice until a few weeks later when I needed to use them.

Hehe your right that hasn't answered my question or made it easier :p

/me wades through more wipers :(

I reckon I could do with a curved blade for the passengers side at the very least as the current halfords jobby doesn't reach/rest on the screen properly :(

Is that what the yellow stickers with the ! mark in them are for then. To tell you there old?

My Focus has these visible.

Yes they turn yellow the more sunlight they recieve. This should be in direct proportion to the rate that rubber naturally perishes in sunlight. It's not exact but it's a helpful reminder.

I paid £11 for these fancy flexible wiper thingys.

Not sure what they really do, or if they work (not running the car yet so wouldnt know) so i think they would help, however it says...

Old Wipers - 6 to 8 pressure points

New Wipers - Over 1000 pressure points

It means in terms of how many preassure points there are between the rubber and the metal framework that gives it / supports the shape.

6 to 8 sounds about right for a standard wiper. The 1000+ comes in from the metal body of the wiper being a continual curve, the rubber will also have a natural curve but instead of it being a continual contact it is (if your being anal) lots of very close together contact points. Stating this as a number just gives it a fancy "oooh" figure to put on the box. In reaity it is more like a single continual pressure point on the flexible wipers.

Where would you recommend getting these from?

I got mine via Ramsport, went for the Super Sporza's in CF but the next set will be black I think. Give PIAA a call (01934 818430) and they should sort you out.

They recommend binning them after 12 months but I've seen no degradation in performance at all and mine are just over a year old.

edit:- should make it clear that you can just swap out the blade and replace it, PIAA do refill packs.

I love em both and are the reason I sold the Pulsar GTI-R for a Saab Estate :)

I've got PIAA Silicon blades in my Audi arms. Audi's design won't let you attach the whole assembly so just pull the blade out and re-insert.

The Valeo Silencio are quite good too. My favourite still has to be Bosch Aero's but there isn't a huge amount of cars these will fit on.
