Hello

I'm struggling to understand the colour combination on what I believe to be a cat6 cable and a network switch

Please see both images, I hope they are viewable

Trying to wire the cable to the switch but unsure what colour combination to use as the colours in the cable appear to not have the same combination in the switch ?

Thanks

There is zero chance that's a Cat6 cable, that's a four pair telephone cable.

Did an electrician do this and charge for it?

As above, it doesn't look like Cat6, which usually has a cross shaped plastic part in the middle to help guide and protect the pairs from each other. Plus that's not a network switch is it? Looks more like a RJ45 faceplate.

Ideally you want to follow the B colour guide, since T568B is more commonly used, but you also want to make sure the other end is also wired as T568B as well.

this will help

Providing the other end of the cable is wire to T568B standard (more than likely is) you just need to match your coloured wire strands to the B columns on the socket. As already suggest blanking out the middle A columns with a Sharpie or similar will make it clearer to ready :)
