right heres the problem ive got

i have a buffalo airstation g54 model

i have 3 pcs one in each of the kids rooms and the main one downstairs.
the main pc goes in as wired
2nd pc also
3rd pc is wireless but at times keeps disconnecting.

the 2nd pc is wired which is the next room from the other pc would it be possible to put another hub in the 2nd pcs room and run another erthernet cable from the next bedroom straight through the wall really to the other pc.

so it would basically be and extension from the 2nd pc to the third one.
or

would i have to run a seperate erthernet cable to the other pc from the main hub downstairs.

or any other configerations really would appreciate but would prefer not to run another cable from the main pc to the 3rd one as the wifes already giving me grief about the first one i ran :)

merry xmas

youd need to check if your router supports "uplinking" whereby you uplink an access point / switch / hub onto your wireless router.

then you would plug both PCs into that switch/hub, and plug the switch/hub into that cable you ran into the room.

No you don't. Any router less than umpteen years old will work fine (and won't have an uplink port either).

Wouldn't bother with a hub at all (and the airstation doesn't have a hub either) though - it's a switch you're after.

so let me gt this right

if i put a swith in the first bedroom with 2nd pc and then run a cable from 3rd pc to that one so in bedroom 1 i have main cable running from mine to first pc.

so if i get a switch and put pc 2 and 3 into that running into 1 cable back to main pc that would work ?

is that what your saying ?

would this be the same for adding a gigabit switch onto a router ?

only reason i ask is that ive got 2 PCs and a NAS box with gigabit ethernet. Woud be nice to have them all on gigabite ethernet, but then just 100 mbs to the router

when i asked about this before i was told i needed an uplink port on my router ?
