Wired Broadband Router?

Ok, so my Telewest Broadband line has been upgraded from 1MB to a 4MB connection. I currently have a Linksys Etherfast DSL/Broadband Router 4 port with the latest firmware and I think its limiting the overall bandwidth I should be getting which is 4MB! The router is ICS with another 2 Computers but these are off when im running the tests.

Running about 4 diffrent tests web based (java applets) and Dan Elwells tester they all seem to be giving me a reading of about 1mbps 125k ish download speed which is not good :(

I have then tested the connection without the Linksys router and the cable modem directly connected to my PC I then get a connection speed of about 3mbps about 380k download speed which is about right and is what I should be getting :)

Im starting to think my old Linksys BEFSR41 v2 router cannot handle the extra bandwidth? Just to clear things ive run antivirus/adaware for spyware etc...

I've have installed a wired network in the house and wondering which wired router I should go for next?

Cheers
