Ok so still in the middle of troubleshooting this and gone as far as I can today without purchasing additional items.
I have an FTTC connection (Zen internet) using their ISP supplied router fritzbox 3490. We have had the connection about 2 years. We were ADSL before and always got top speed with that.
We have two computers both connected via Ethernet. Hers is upstairs but this is a small two bed terraced house and it's not a long cable.
So recently say in the last 4 weeks her computer has started to have connection issues and only with download. My computer works fine getting full speed. Hers can get almost full and then sometimes nothing.
So far I have checked for updates made sure everything is up to date.
Switched off any what seem to be non essential start up services. I have swapped LAN ports with my own computer but that's made no difference.
I don't believe it to be the router as my own computer is fine therefore bit can't be ISP side either. It can't be QoS as even with everything else disconnected from router it's still inconsistent.
I am down to trying a new cable ( need to order ) and if that doesn't work then perhaps a new network port ( ie buy a network card pci I guess )
Have I missed anything here ?
