Hi Guys

I recently had my house rewired and had cat 6 runs everywhere throughout the house. These all feed to a 24 port gigabit switch (TP LINK jobby).

My question is, am I ok to then add further switches in the house.

eg my pc is upstairs so I have an 8 port switch there for everything in that room.

I also have a small switch under the tv for everything.

I've not seen any performance issues as a result.

My other question is, could I use say an Asus router as a switch/access point on the network as my wifi signal is poor at the back of the house?

Thanks for ay help guys, I'm new to networking on this scale

No issues with doing this, the only caveat is that anything connected to the switch in your room or under your TV shares the available bandwidth when talking to anything outside of that switch (in your case if they're gigabit switches all devices will share the gigabit). At those speeds however, it's unlikely you'll see any slowdowns.

I run a similar setup myself.

Great cheers guys. Glad I'm doing it right.

All the switches are gigabit. And normally I'm only doing one thing at a time ie transfers to nas or gaming separately.

Cheers for that too Rich, I'll probably keep an eye out for a cheap Asus n66 or something.
