Heres the situation:

I want to connect my xbox360 to the pc and use the internet for xbox Live and such. So we have the crossover cable running from the xbox directly into the network adapter on the motherboard. Internet is gained from the wireless connection from a router downstairs.

When the wired connection is enabled, it knocks out the Internet Gateway, basically i'm looking for a way for the PC and the xbox to 'share' the wireless card. Anyone know how to do this, i'm pulling my hair out. :(

most people would use an ethernet cable or a compatible wireless device on the xbox to to make a link direct to the router, that could network the xbox to the pc and to the internet, I dont think its likley you will get all you want to work easily, a great deal of time wrestling with ip's gaeway etc is in store even if you dont have a hardware issue.

What you are doing is not recommended, however it is possible. You will need to create a network bridge between your Wireless connection and your wired connection.

Best thing to do is to give your wired connection a static IP on a different range as your wireless giving it NO default gateway and no dns servers.

For example

Wired;
Ip 192.168.75.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Leave DNS and Default gateway blank.

Then configure your xbox on 192.168.75.2

Then use the wizard in XP to bridge the wired and wireless connections.

Key thing is your wireless IP range must be different to your wired range and you mustn't have 2 default gateways.

Ah I see now. I would have done it the easy way, but the router is downstairs and I don't want a cable running down the stairs and I don't want to spend cash on an official microsoft wireless card if I can do this. :p
