Is there such a thing as an adapter you can plug into the NIC port on network printer that will make it wireless?

I have just got rid of the cabling in my house and I have a large network printer that I would like tokeep networked without having to run a cable.

? but then the printer still has to be ethernet'd to the router right?

I want no cables going to the printer other than power.

The router is down stairs and the Printer is up stairs and not plugged directly into a PC, nor do I want to leave a PC on so I can print.

Don't know of any straight Ethernet -> wireless which requires no power

I think you have misunderstood, a wireless bridge connects via ethernet to the printer and the bridge then connects to the router over a wireless connection

Alternatively I think you can get wireless print servers, but if your printer already has an ethernet port and print server built in the sireless bridge offers you more funtionality as other wired devices can be connected over the bridge (NAS, Dev. server etc)

Ah, your right I was misunderstanding :) Sorry ;)

So it would go like this?

Router---Wireless router/\/\/\/\/\/\Wireless Bridge---Printer ?

--- Cat5
/\/\ Wireless

So the wireless bridge would be a little box that plugs in and then I plug the printer into it which in turn connects to my wireless?

So if I am understanding you right, then is there a wireless bridge you recomend?

Well that is very much dependant on your budget.

With no limits the Cisco Aironets are supposed to be quite nice.

I haven't used one before, but the Netgear ME101 Wireless Bridge seems to be rated reasonably
