Hi, I currently have a wireless network but the damn thing seems to cut out after 10 - 15minutes of online gaming or downloading. I am looking at going wired up as I believe this to be the best solution for my problem, however I know nothing of the variances between wired routers and thus do not know which one I should buy. I have BT option 3 internet (8mb Max usage) I dont think this is ADSL2 although I would be lying if I said I knew that 100%.

They are ethernet adaptors that use the existing powerlines in the home. So basically, each power socket acts as an Ethernet port. You need two. One at the router end and the other, well where ever you like really. Just simply plug in and your off.

I swear by them. My workshop is at the bottom of the garden. Too far for wireless.. Homeplugs meant that I could get a decent connection without the hassle of installing Cat5 cable everywhere.

OCUK do them.. they used to have a better range..

What's providing your wireless? Is it not a typical wireless modem/router with ethernet ports you can wire into?

I had the exact same problem as you a few months back, i went wireless - just ran an ethernet into my room and then into a switch giving me the opportunity to run 7 machines wired :D.

If your torrenting try to set your Global max # of connections to 100 and see if it helps as some routers will just drop out if it gets too many connection request from your torrents.

Homeplugs are good for what they do but there price is a rip off for what they are.

I find is really funny that people say running cat5 is hassle it's no hassle at all I just think people are getting a bit lazy.

i just bought these as my wireless was poor despite doing everything i could to boost the signal. Now i'm using them websites open quicker, streamed vids are smoother and i dont keep getting cut off.

if you keep getting cut off the wifi change the broacast channel as someone might be broadcasting on the same one
