Wired or Wireless

Any difference technically that would mean wired is better/faster/lower ping than wireless?

Context being Xbox live.

I can't help thinking that wired is a much better connection for gaming?

I've played competitive games on my PC over wireless for years, no problems with pings, in fact it's almost always around the same as my friends who used wired.

If you're worried about wireless giving you lag, start using wired controllers too

Was just a topic brought up in discussion.

Good point on the controllers though

I'm more thinking of reasons why they could be different rather than actual experience.
