Wired or Wireless

am a big gaming fan and currently i use a tacky wired mouse, my laser mouse from my desktop is wireless but requires the docking unit plugged in hence wires and cable all over the place......i hate mess lol

would a wireless mouse work just aswell as a wired mouse? am looking at one of these mice that use's a little usb dongle thing like in link
