I'm looking for a wired router + 1xAP. + 2.5gb switch. Unifi seems too expensive to me. I can't justify spending that much money on a home network setup and only using 10% of its potential. Tp Link Omada ER707-M2 looks great on the paper. Is there anything better that I can get for similar amount of money? My current ISP can only get me 900mbps and I will have a second fibre installed by brsk very soon. No really need for 2.5gb wan at the moment, but I would like to future-proof my network as I don't like to replace network gear more often than every 10 years. My PC and NAS has 2.5gb eth network.

What's your budget?
Cheaper than Unifi 2.5gb cheapest setup.
I've looked at this kit before and the only things that put me off are the dashboard, which seems archaic and not beginner friendly, and the lack of poe, which I don't need at the moment, but maybe next year I'll add cctv working on poe so it might come in handy.

Omada ER707-M2 + TP-Link TL-SG3210XHP-M2+ EAP650. £220+£360+£120=700. Mikrotik kit is £624. Is Omada worth adding a few extra pounds?
Just noticed that I forgot about Omada hardware controller which is extra £70 :/.
The cost of the whole project is quickly getting out of hand so I will probably buy any gigabit dual wan router and wait for prices to come down.

Good news guys, I haven't purchased anything yet, but a new option has emerged. The Unifi Dream Machine Pro is on promotion at a price I'm prepared to pay. On top of that, I would take 1x U6 Pro and a POE adapter. £442 with delivery. Can I get something better for similar money? A reminder of what I'm looking for: Dual WAN with load balancing and at least one WAN and LAN port faster than 1gbps and as if I could hook up a 10gbps switch in the future. I want it to last me for years. I understand that by entering the Unifi ecosystem I am not forced to buy cameras and switches from Ubiquiti?
There are no hidden fees there? This is a home network but want something for prouser.
I've read about the Mikrotik RB5009 and would be willing to buy it, but I've read about the problem with eth1 2.5gbps, which has trouble reaching 500mbps upload. Also, the interface is off-putting to a new user.

Thanks guys. If by the end of the day I can't find 34 reasons why I shouldn't invest in dream machine pro then I'm ordering the kit first thing tomorrow morning.

And it wouldn’t have been there after 19:10. I have a live stock tracker and the last one sold at 19:10 UK time last night. That cleared the decks and I doubt there will be many more, if any, on sale again. Once the SE was out very few people saw the value in the ordinary UDM Pro.
Well... It's still available... in Austria, Ireland and other countries. Just not in the UK.
