Hi all I need some advice.

have this router

Belkin F5D9230-4 v5111

And I have this network switch

TP-Link 5 Port Gigabit Desktop Switch

Now I have the switch connected to one of the ports on me router and then two computers connected to me switch.

Ones a laptop on XP and the other me gaming PC on win 7.

Now I am tranfering a 10GB file from laptop to game pc and I am getting transfer speeds never above 8MB/second.

I should be getting more than that surely?.

It states the router can do up to 108 Mbps

The laptop says its connected to the switch at 100mb the game pc at 1gb.

So I should at least expect more than 8mb?.

Thanks

really even though the slowest pc ocnnected to the network is running at 100mb/s?

I would expect some where nearer to that?.

Thanks

Sounds like you're getting confused between Mb (megabit) and MB (megabyte). There are 8 bits in a byte, so 100 Mbps = 12.5 MB/s. Due to overhead and various other things, 12 MB/s is probably the highest you'll see.
