Wired Xbox 360 controller on 10m usb cable

Im looking at some USB extension cables, Im getting a wired xbox controller for dirt cheap (brother in-law manager at game Woop!)

The cables I have looked at are mainly 5m+5m repeater cables. Ive also seen a few 10m ones that say they must be plugged into a powered Hub, which is a bit weird because I cant work out what end as surely the power from a USB port will be the same so it must be the other end but its a female end!

Long story short, do I really need a USB repeater cable? I may just stick with a 5m though 10m would be great.

Anyone with experience with usb cables would be great. Last time I checked USB lengths, it was 1.2m I was sure lol

That's perfect Info. Only thing I am a bit worried about is the length of cable on the controller is about 2.5m so

PC->5m cable------------->Hub->5m cable-------------->--------->2.5m controler cable

So the answer would be to get an repeater 5m cable for the controller end I guess

Surely this is exactly the sort of situation where stumping up an extra few quid for a wireless controller makes absolute total irrefutable sense?

agreed, 10m seems a bit much, i'd have to use binoculars to see the screen.lol.
