I know this should probably have gone elsewhere, but thought it was more topical in here.

Im after some 5.1 wireless headphones for when the missus is trying to sleep. GTA 4 in the background doesn't help apparently ! :D

Ideally it would be usable with all three consoles, but the 360 and PS3 are the ones I really need. Currently they go into a Logitech Z5400 system, so not sure how the headphones would work.

Anyone got some they can recommend? Not silly money if poss. ;)

Cheers

I'm not sure about 5.1, but my Z5400 system has a headphone jack (stereo only, I am assuming).

Not for you (you wanted wireless) but my medusa 5.1s came with their own amp with an input and output (use the PS3/Xbox as the input, and then plug the 5400s into the output), which means you can use both at the same time, you simply turn the speakers off when you want to use the headset only.

Don't know about a wireless version of these though...

yeah, there's a headphone jack but that obviously won't handle 5.1. Asssuming I'd have to put the optical straight into the headphone base station, but I can cope with that. Needs to be wireless cos of the distance too really. I hate cables anyway ! :)

Sorry I don't know about wireless but if you purchase; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-027-SL you can use these for 5.1 sound providing you have an amplifier setup already.

So if Z-5400 does optical decoding and so on you should be able to hook that up, I bought the same headset recently but it hasn't came yet, read a few reviews and all nice and positive, mainly getting them because my room is moving and my 5500's will be halfway across the room, not ideal to game like that on PC!

Might fall under silly money but I used to use a set of Philips SBC-HD1500U wireless surround headphones. Cost about £200 back then. It depends how picky you are about sound. I thought they did a great job of reproducing 5.1 but not worth the premium over a nice set of stereo headphones so I ended up selling them. There are more sensibly priced 5.1 headphones like the Sharkoon X-Tatic ones and some Creative ones. Not sure how they sound though.

edit: I don't think the Sharkoon/Creative ones are wireless though.

Cheers matey.

Sharkoon X-tactic look alright, favorable reviews around, i dont mind that they are not wireless, and i like it that i can run the optical out from the xbox straight to the mini-amp included

so far the best option, ~ £75

Ok, just been reading tons about that little KVC box, seems that forum at least is convinced it is the best choice for surround heaphones.

Bit expensive once you pair up the amp (£80) with good heaphones (£75)
