SX, unfortunately
Morning all, I'm toying with replacing my Sonicwall/sonicpoint router and access point as the subscription is coming to an end and it's £££ to renew. I have been playing with a Draytek 2860 at work and quite like it, and I see they get recommended here too - but not sure what AC access point would work well with it? Not that it would be integrating that much as DHCP is done by my server. Any suggestions? :)

If your going down the route of getting a Draytek router you could get a Draytek AP as you can control the settings etc off of the router itself.

Hmm, looks similar to the Sonicpoint - does it require a subscription as trying to get away from that.

I have a DrayTek 2860, awesome piece of kit, for wireless AP I am using a BT home hub 3 in AP mode. Some people may laugh but it works great and was free so meh :P

Pfft!, a BT home hub! talk about spoiling a nice setup! lol :p

I'm also using a 2860 :) before that 2850,2830,2820. Take a guess what I like to use hehe

Currently using it with a AP-800 and previous to that AP-700.

Agree awesome piece of kit! but not for the faint heart'd kids :p

Oh I also have a EE Ospray USB 4G modem plugged into it for failover (it supports USB modem failover incase anyone didn't know) haha.

One of the benefits of having the router being so good is that the stuff you use to expand it can be so basic.

A man after my own heart haha!

I used an Orange (going back a bit) 3G USB for redundancy with my 2820. :)

Currently using Draytek's USB Thermometer with the 2860 to monitor my cabinet.

I had a Draytek 2860 for about a week and found it naff so sent it back. Now have an Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite combined with an UAP AC Pro and couldn't be happier.

Currently using a Draytek Vigor 2830 and a couple of 3900's

Not bad, but certainly not as user friendly as I would have expected. 2 3900's, same firmware etc having different layouts for menu's... pita.

Need to look at a wireless option too as they currently use a talktalk hub on a different line, which as a backup is ok but when you get constant issues with wireless users being unable to print on the wired network it drives you potty.

Thanks Guys - read through a few bits and pieces and picked up an AP-902 - seems ok so far. A certain amount of "lost in translation" with the instructions but works ok and easy enough to figure out.
