Currently own a pair of Cisco WAP4410N. They're quite good, but ugly. So I'm looking for something a bit more discreet. I was looking at:

Engenius EAP600

Does anyone know of any similar APs and whether the Engenius one is any good?

Cheers

Never used the Engenius ones, so can't comment but they are damn pricey....

Have you had a look at the Ubiquiti Unifi range?

I have the Unifi UAP at home and can't fault it. Breeze to set up and very discreet sat on the wall looking like a flying saucer. If you want to push teh boat out, you can always go for the pro version of it.

All configuration and control is done via a web interface and can broadcast multiple SSID's and guest access on them too.

Well worth having a look at

The Pro units are £206.00 each and the bog standard ones are £63.00 each Both are fully scaleable, so more can be added in the future. They also work via PoE, so only one cable required for installation

Here is a link their website (please delete if deemed competitor link)

I've used the Unifi access points.

They work well for their intended purpose where you aren't looking for massive range. I don't think they'd be the best fit for a single access point domestic install.

Sorry, misunderstood their website. I've got a PoE switch, so won't need the injector.

Do you have any other suggestions bremen1874?

Ubiquiti stuff is alright, but their supply chain is terrible, you end up almost not able to buy the things when you need them. We switched to Aerohive and haven't really looked back.

There do seem to be availability problems. Even with the very limited number of access points I've dealt with there have been times when I've had to wait a week+ for delivery, or had to purchase a different model from the range.

Once you actually get your hands on them they're fine, and when the V3 software comes out there'll be some nice additional functionality available.

From a cost point-of-view there isn't really a direct alternative to what Ubiquiti offer. If there is I'd like to know.
