Wireless Adapter for 900mb connection

no I appreciate I’ll not be getting the full 900mb without an Ethernet connection.
It will all be running off the BT Smarthub 2 (possibly not the best scenario I appreciate)
So you wouldn’t use a wireless usb WiFi adapter?
I used a NETGEAR A7000-100PES Nighthawk AC1900 Wi-Fi USB Adapter and got this about 8 meters from router...
and I got this with an iPad 6th generation right next to router...
This with Ethernet...
lol!!!!! I would happily run a cable across the hallway but the wife would kill me

Is it possible to run a cable through conduit? I have my fibre connection that comes into the garage which shares the wall with my living room. I then have a cat6 cable that comes through that wall and then is in the thinnest conduit I could get along the skirting board and up and over a door frame in the living room. From here it goes through a hole into the cupboard under the stairs where all my network gear is (Router, switch, NAS etc). Another cable then goes up through the stairs and under the carpet next to the skirting board upstairs to my PC.

What I was meaning, was is there a point in spending £50-£100 on a new, fancy wifi adapter, if you don't actually need all 900mb at a single PC.
(e.g. maybe you have an older wifi adapter laying around, or if not would a £25 ac1300 one do for the time being - and then run cable in the future)

No, I always found USB adapters to be pants. Best bet is definitely a card with an aerial on a small cable. I tried 3 different WiFi adapters before settling on the Gigabyte one which I got on the members market.
The first one was a little USB one connected straight in the back of my motherboard, it was shocking but was fine at my old house with bugger all internet. Then when I moved and got 300mb, I upgraded to a Belkin or Netgear USB that came with a flip up aerial which was fine until I upgraded to 500mb and then went for the Gigabyte which also has Bluetooth.
Got to admit, I got peed off with not getting the full 500 and did eventually run a cable.... Trust me, you will too. I have a flat cat5 cable that I got off Rainforest and managed to push it under the skirting board around the edge of the room. It being flat, if you ran it across the threshold strip of a doorway to go between rooms I doubt the Mrs would even know!

Could you not buy a mesh for £100 and use the ethernet socket from behind a node?
I achieved a download speed of around 73MB/s when downloading the whole of Battlefield 5 from Origin...
My NETGEAR A7000-100PES Nighthawk AC1900 Wi-Fi USB Adapter just wouldn’t be able cut it. You’d need a Wi-Fi adapter capable of achieving 584Mbit/s and I’m not sure there’s any out there capable of that.
There’s other things out there which can download at speeds of over 73MB/s which rules out Wi-Fi even further.
