Im looking for a wireless usb adapter that is known to work with vista, has anyone had any luck getting one to work?? The 2 I have and tried do not have drivers that are supported in vista.. There was a vista driver compatability list doing the rounds but I lost it,, anyone still have the link

From articles that I've read in magazines and on the web, USB wireless devices do not work with Vista :( AFAIK, PCI wireless devices are fine and wired ethernet is fine as well :)

I have read a few people getting wireless working with the same key I have, but the way they done it seems more luck than anything else, I tried the same things but no joy for me,, I seemed to get so close aswell, vista recognised my wireless adapter and also installed the driver but then it just dont respond after that :( can you get PCI cards to work on desktops?? I thought they are laptop only??

Nope, laptops use PCMCIA. Look Here :) From what I've been told they seem to work better but it's just luck with which one you get I think and I don't have a clue which one's work and which one's don't unfortunatley- all my desktop's are wired :) PCI wireless cards are much better than USB attachments any day though really so it would be a good investment either way

Good memories of netsend fun, hehe! In my school I used to send them to people in my class with things like "I'm watching you" and "I love you shirt/hair" lol. I done it to this six former once saying "what a cool bag you have, where did you get it?" she immediately started looking around it was hard to keep in the laughter lol :D . Shame they've blocked it now

Yes it's the Office Connect line of USB adapters - I'm running 32 bit Vista. I plugged it in when connected to the Internet via cable ethernet and the drivers installed automatically with no fuss. It even realised I was using USB 1.1 (on an old test machine) and limited the connection to 11b. It accepted my huge WPA key of random characters and away it went.

I think im going to try the 32bit version before I commit to buying new hardware,, seems that theres more chance of getting drivers working then. Did you run update at all before you plugged your usb adapter in? I think my wireless key would work if I run the update as its listed as supported with a driver update but I cant run the update with no connection :(

thanks

I installed Vista with the Internet connected via an ethernet cable beyond that I didn't do a manual update.
