Hi,

As per title really. Is it possible to get wireless adapter that will run under Windows 98 (first edition)?

I've donated my very old PC to my children and ideally would like to give them the opportunity to use the internet. Is this going to be at all possible?

Cheers,

Jubbly

I had an old Orinoco PCMCIA card that has since left my possession that was compatible with nearly everything (even worked on a very old pocket PC). Might be worth trying to track down something similar. It was ~£150 back in the day. :o

Although you don't list spec's of the PC if it'll run 98 it'll probably run win2k (2gb HD/, the latter is significantly more stable and modern though a 98SE Licence will cost you less. Hardware support is also much better.

Windows 2000 Professional
133 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU.
64 megabytes (MB) of RAM recommended minimum; more memory generally improves responsiveness [4 gigabytes (GB) RAM maximum.]
2 GB hard disk with a minimum of 650 MB of free space. (Additional free hard disk space is required if you are installing over a network.)
Windows 2000 Professional supports single and dual CPU systems.

Just a thought :)

My thoughts exactly, although if it is only just running 98 then obviously not a smart move.

Another point for the 2k side is it has better user account controls which is a plus if it's for your kids.
