I've been using powerline adaptors, but because of different circuits upstairs, I often get connection drops.

Tried running a ethernet cable upstairs, but it's really awkward and the plaster in the walls isn't great in places so can't tack cables to it.

So was thinking of a good wireless adaptor as theres a free pci-e slot. Something with a extended antenna be better? And would plugging a range extender on the landing be worthwhile?

Any brands to go for?

It really depends on how everything is laid out in your home. How far is the PC from the router? Which router is it? How thick are the walls? There's a lot of variables on if it will work or not, and if you need something to extend the range.

It's a Sky Q Hub ER110, about 10m from pc. Walls about 10cm thick. Router is in hall front of house, pc in back bedroom.

Can you run an ethernet cable outside and back in? A cable is always going to be miles better.

Or else how far can you run a cable from the PC you're trying to connect towards the router? I ask because if you have an old wireless router lying around you can probably put it in client/bridge mode and connect PC >> Ethernet >> spare router in client mode >> wireless >> Sky Hub. It's sort of like a half implementation of a repeater but you'll get more bandwidth, probably better connectivity and it'll act as a switch also if you have multiple devices. It's also cheap if you have a spare router which many people do.

I'm gonna give the ASUS PCE-AC68 a go. Don't online game often, but should the wireless lag, I can just run the cable up the stairs for a few hours.
