As title really. I use vista 32 and with my 54mbps netgear usb adaptor and it wouldnt even do the 'beep beep' hardware detected noise. We get a new router as the old one died and it came with a 104mbps (or whatever) netgear adapter and it works fine upon start-up, then decides there is no adaptor plugged in or it says device malfunctioned. So internet use is limited to 5 mins then a restart is needed.

Is it just netgear products doing this??
Anyone got a specific pci/usbwireless adapter they recommend??

The current two adapters are usb ones.

Im guessing as its happened twice you could try updating your chipset drivers, possibly check the power saving options on the USB bus.

My girlfriend used a Netgear 54Mbps USB adaptor for ages with no problems

I use a Linksys WMP54GS PCI adapter which has worked flawlessly. I didn't even need to install drivers in Vista 64. It worked on the standard drivers and then updated to the official drivers later.

tried the usb power thing and updated chipset drivers, nothing:( I think its something to do with windows as sometimes it wont even do the beep beep noise
My netgear 54mbps worked fine for years on xp....but vista hates it:confused:
