Wireless adaptor question.

Does anyone know if its possible to use the wireless adaptor affair which came with a freeserve wireless set up, to connect to a wireless sky router. Its for a friend hes just rang asking me and I dont really know if it will work if i remeber rightly the freeserve adaptor was a caple to a little silver box set up which plugged into one of his usb connectors.

Any help would be great, thanks.
