I went round to the 'rents house last night to try and fix their wireless extender. It's a TP Link WA850RE and I got it up and running with little to no problems. Iphones, laptops everything finds the extended network now.
Apart from a really strange issue with their Samsung BluRay player. The player is a Smart BluRay with built in WiFi. The Wifi happily connects to the extended network but then cannot connect to the internet. It just gives up an error message saying 'connected to wireless network but cannot connect to the internet'
I tried changing DNS servers to google DNS, that didn't help. The only way to get it to work is to move it to another room and connect it to the network without using the extender.
Like I say, very strange as all the other devices work using the extender.
I also tried using an Airport Express in extender mode. That gave up the same error message; it could connect to the wireless network but would not function as an extender.
Any thoughts? The main router is a BT home hub.
