wireless G = 54mb/s
wireless N = 108 / 150 / 300mb's + greater range than g
so basicaly even if you had the 50mbit line you would be fine with G and still get your full connection speed.
N is only good for futureproof, or if your pc is going to be further away.
PCI wireless cards can have there signal blocked by the actual case, so be aware of this. a lot of people go for usb on an extension usb lead, so they can move it around for optimum signal. but its your choice with what you go with in the end.

I've got a D-Link Airplus G DWL-G510 PCI network card, but I'm getting all kinds of problems with the signal dropping. Really starting to do my head in. Would a USB network card sort this out?
My pc is in the next room to the router, so I dont really know why the signal is so bad.
They're half-duplex and theoretical speeds, 54mbps / G would bottleneck a 50mbps connection at around 20mbps. Everything else said is pretty much true though, N is supposed to have better range etc. G should suffice for online gaming.
