Hey guys.

Just moving into a new flat now and am looking at setting up my broadband etc.

Sky seem to do some nice packages and was with TalkTalk previously who are so bad.

My question is that now I am moving I unfortunately cannot have my PC near the Ethernet port so is it worth putting a wireless card inside or just picking up a WiFi USB adapter?

Second question is once I get sent the router is it worth spending money on a new router or does Sky's do the job well enough?

Cheers!

The router sky provide is ok, but if you going to have more than a couple of rooms between you and the router you'll want to think about getting something better, I got this the other day, wall mounted it and have never looked back.

Wireless isn't the best way to connect to the Internet. It works, for the most part but can have a lot of errors if there are a lot of access points around. What about Powerline? Shouldn't cost much more than an access point and is the next best thing to a proper cat5e/6 wired network.

If you plan on using a lot of bandwidth or are anything of an online gamer then consider against wireless.

Yeah I plan on heavy internet usage.

Never really heard of powerline before. I know its got something to do with using the current wires in the house but Im not well educated on it.

How does it work?

Use Wireless N adapters for the network

Like Tealc said wireless is a very iffy and i hate dropping connection and it sounds like this Powerline is the way forward.

What I want to know now though is if I will need 500mbps or will 200mbps do and what is the best model to be picking up?

Cheers.
