Wireless and wired together

Hi,

we want to get a wireless router to allow a notebook to be used around the house but would prefer our desktop PC to remain wired.

The wirless router will take up the ethernet port on the modem so will the router have a port to still allow us to connect the ethernet cable to our desktop PC?

Almost all routers have 4 ethernet ports on the back for this reason. There may be a couple that don't, but I don't know of any.
