Hi there,

We have a Sonos connect plugged in to an amp and playing on a wired PA speaker system. it's working fine and music is added to a NAS drive.

Is there a way to add a wireless speaker to this setup just for one awkward additional room? or would there be wifi lag issues even if this were possible.

Thanks very much.

I should come clean and say I have very little experience with Sonos systems and I thought the sonos play, at that price, was a complete music system like the connect, but with a speaker attached.

I also just need confirmation it will simply function as a speaker for the connect whilst it also plays into the amp over 3.5 (so effectively playing through wired and wireless at the same time).

They're all complete music systems in the sense that each Sonos will work independently if that's what you want. However, one of the key benefits of Sonos is that it works stunningly well as a multi-room system. In fact, that is the prime reason for buying into the Sonos ecosystem!

As far as your use goes, the Play speaker can be used to listen to the same tunes that are playing via the Connect; and that could be either streamed (home media files / internet radio / Spotify or other streamed media source) or via the Connect's line input i.e. your CD player/Sky box etc.

It can also work independently and play any of the above sources except the Connect's line in if the Connect itself is playing something different.

There is no audio delay.

hi there,

I noticed that you posted in my other thread (same problem alternative possible solution) - thanks a lot :)

Whilst this is more expensive are you simply saying that I could buy any sonos play speaker and make it play what is already playing on the connect wirelessly at the same time as it carries on playing over 3.5mm via the amp? if so that's great as the sonos play could also link to the NAS and play separate tunes too.

is that correct?

thanks a lot
