Hi everyone,

I've read various threads like this thread I've started, but I need 100% clarity or help on this.

I need a wireless cable modem to support 4 users (3 wireless 1 wired). I have NTL 10meg, or will do.

Do I need a 108mbps or will a 54mbps modem go up to the 10meg NTL speed?

Finally, what cable modem do you recommend, and any windows settings tips for wired or wireless?

Thankyou very much for any input.

Bear in mind that there's a huge amount of consumer level routers which aren't powerful enough to route 10Mbps of packets.

54g is fine apparently the wirelss router of choice for ntl 10meg is the Linksys WRT54G

If u wired then a Linksys BEFRSR41 will work a treat for u @ 10mbit speeds.

Sk1n

can anyone help me find the Linksys WRT54G or Linksys WRT54GS as near to £40 inc. delivery as possible? I tried froogle.co.uk and other suggestions?

You only want to spend £5 more than the cost of 10Mb cable for one month on the device which is going to be handling it?

I'm afraid we can't as it's against the forum rules.

I'm using a 54g router on 10mbit Cable, it is OK most of the time with consistent 1200k/sec transfer speeds. However, I do get periodic blocks of packetloss every minute or so for maybe 1 second at a time. I'm not sure exactly what is causing that, have tried messing with a bunch of settings to no avail.
