We have a DHCP server on our network (SBS 2003) and several wireless routers in the building. DHCP is turned off on the routers so clients should just get their IP address straight from the DHCP server. The problem is sometimes this doesn't happen. The client can see the access point but the little circle just moves left and right.
OR.. sometimes clients connect and then drop out and connect again, repeatedly.
I'm wondering if its worth investing in some better kit for our wireless network - all we need are access points for about 15 people per point. At the moment we're just using Netgear and Linksys boxes such as the DG834G. Quick question though - is it ok to give all the points the same SSID? We had terrible problems before when I tried this, but I thought it would be easier than entering in different access details on laptops.
We have to rely on wireless here as the LAN isn't really up to scratch, lots of broken network points. Does anyone implement a really reliable wireless network in an office, using the built in wireless that most laptops have these days?
