wireless computer to laptop network

hello, i have wireless on my laptop and a netgear usb wireless dongle
ive been trying to setup so i can network the 2 computers using ad hoc? i have the two connected to the same network but i carnt see or access the other computer how can i get it so i can send/receive files.

my laptop is xp home my tower is xp pro. ip assigned is 192.168.0.1 for the laptop 192.168.0.3 for the tower, network name is HOME on both computers, they connect and send info but nothing is beeing received

ok getting pings accross on both computers now, but still nothing in the my network places under view workgroup computers nothing comes up, and i cannot access the other computer
