wireless connection delay

hi there

i have a dell vostro 1400 laptop with an intel wireless card which is controlled by intel pro set connection software.
everything works as it should but there is about a 2 minute delay connecting to the wireless network every time i boot into windows. there is also a delay (some times 3-4 minutes) if i click on the pro set icon on the task bar before i get the list of wireless networks available.
should i let windows manage the wireless maybe?
any help much appreciated.

update the intel drivers and pro software, dell drivers should be functinal but are not usually the latest.

using the windows utility will still use the intel drivers, worht updating thsoe before checking

updated drivers, uninstalled intel pro/wireless software and let windows manage the connection and its improved drastically
