Wireless Connection Keeps Dying

Wireless router is connected to one PC. My PC has a USB wireless receiver that connects to it. It regularly just loses its internet connection. In the middle of surfing, gaming, whatever, it will just die and the light on the USB receiver goes off. It is getting really annoying.

When I check the connection, I am still connected to the other PC, I am still connected to the network, but not to the internet. I recently 'upgraded'(?) to Vista. This did happen occasionally on XP but it seems to happen all the time, every day, now on Vista.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing it, or how to fix it? The Vista Diagnose and Repair has not managed to repair it even once yet.

Thanks.

Does your router lose syncwhen it appears to drop? Or is it solely PC side?

I'd say it sounds like a router issue to me, either not forwarding the net connection on, or the router is actually losing sync. ( more likely )

What do you normally do to resolve the issue?

could something be interfering with the signal?(cordless phone, microwave, sparrow fart etc) tried changing the broadcast channel? got the reciever set to the correct standard (b, g, pre-n etc?)
