Right, this is starting to do my head in.
I have got a new Macbook Pro 17", oh yes the machine itself ROCKS !......but, trying to connect it to my home wireless network is posing damn frustrating.

Ok, i can get it connected, but i have to change my WPA password, save setting and then go through the assistant again. Thats the only way that it will connect. Other times it can see my network fine, but comes up with an error

" There was an error joining the Airport network "****".

I have tried deleting all my location, Airport admin util won't see my router etc. The router is a belkin and my windows lappy was connecting fine before it was retired due to my Macbook.

I can connect via ethernet, but is a little annoying that i can't lounge on the sofa...

Any ideas guys?

Could it possibly be a compatibility issues with the router? Is there any updated firmware available for it?

Firstly, congrats on the 17" MBP (I have one waiting for me to open on the 25th ;))

My first suggestion would be to try disabling any encryption and try connecting to the network, hopefully this will work fine and you can rule out the MBP's wi fi.

Secondly, check that the MBP has a fixed IP address.. I'm thinking you may be allowing the IP through with the passphrase but when you reset you lose that "slot" and that's the reason it's throwing a wobbler.

Finally, it sounds stupid but check your settings AGAIN. Many times I've set up wireless networks only to find I was missing a captial, or I'd misspelt something simple which was causing nightmares connecting.

Hope thats help to you :D

Thanks guys for your replies. I don't think its the router, although i'm not ruling it out, but i have had connection before and whilst i did speed was great etc.
As for fixing the ip, i have tried that also. Encryption wise, i have simplified the WPA phrase to something that you could never spell wrong and also the MB will let you see what you typing etc.

I have however found on the mac forums that there are a lot of MBP's having this issue, not sure what is causing it though, maybe an update or firmware level?

One thing is for sure though thats its annoying. I have a mac guy who does some work for us who is buying one also, wonder if he has had any issues.....

I also went down the path of deleting the pref files for airport and networks, clear out the rubbish and start again type thing, no luck though.

Will carry on and anymore help would be appreciated. Just aswell the Mac itself is worth it still ! ;)
