Hi all,

I have a Cisco Meraki MR12 and a BT Homehub, set up with the same SSID, same key.

On the homehub the encryption type is set to "Use WPA & WPA2" and on the Cisco it is "WPA2-PSK", that is the closest match I can find between the two.

But devices, they don't seem to switch between the two access points depending on signal strength, signal can become very low but the device won't roam, you have to toggle wifi on and off then the signal strength massively increases, so it is obviously then switched to the other AP, it just won't do it automatically.

The devices include a Dell Studio 1555 laptop, iPad air, Samsung Galaxy S4, all of which I'd have expected to have the knowledge / hardware to roam between APs.

Anyone please have any ideas of anything to check?

There is 2 types of WPA2, PSK and AES.

If you have one set to PSK and one set to AES they wont roam as your finding out. Your need to set them both to WPA2-PSK for it to do that.

Why are you using the Meraki for home use anyway  Seems a bit overkill.

As above, it was free so thought I'd use it haha

And thanks for the info with regards to aes and psk, I'll take a look at that
