Wireless dongle usable for other peripherals?

I have a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse set, they work perfectly with the included 2.4GHz usb dongle.
I was wondering if I were to buy a generic 2.4GHz MCE remote, would it be likely to work with the Logitech dongle?

IIRC most Logitech devices come paired to their dongles, and won't work with other devices.

I think some of their newer ones have a universal dongle, but that is I believe only for their own products (so you don't need two Logitech dongles if say you've got a compatible mouse, then get a compatible keyboard)

Bah, that's massively annoying, I'm trying not to have a huge tangle of receivers all over the show, it's unsightly.
Coming from a slightly different angle, might the Logitech KB & mouse work with the generic dongle that comes bundled with the remote?
