Hi there

I've just had Virgin Media install my broadband etc. and ever since the installation, I've not been able to connect wirelessly. I've been on the phone to Virgin many times, and they sent me an ethernet cable so I can connect to the net, but have done some checks and now they have told me that my wireless driver is not compatible with the hub. The driver that is currently installed is:

Atheros AR5007 and then some other numbers, not sure if these are important. (whatever this means...)

I've done an internet search and it's not obvious, I just want to know which driver to download. The laptop is Compaq Presario CQ60.

I'm completely clueless when it comes to computers so I'd really appreciate some guidance on this!

I think I lowered the MTU when on the phone to the Virgin man, think I lowered it to 145?

As for their rubbish hardware, you're probably right but I did have problems connecting to someone else's wireless recently as well. Might take my laptop somewhere else and try it again.

Can you post the full driver version and date?

Edit: And what O/S? Windows 7?

Yup Windows 7 I think.

Not sure how I find out the date of the driver...

As for version, it says Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g

Hope this makes sense :/

Well unfortunately none of this worked, I'm pretty much at my tether's end, spent about 40mins on the phone to tech support yesterday while they remotely accessed my computer, still couldn't get it connecting.

I spoke to a friend yesterday and they had the same problem on theirs, and Virgin sent them a free dongle to plug in, hopefully I can persuade them to do the same for me.

Thank you for all your help anyway :(
