wireless encryption - cant see wired network

as soon as i enable encryption on the wireless part of the router...the laptop cant see the wired computer...how does the computer communicate to the encrypted laptop?

You need to give the laptop the PSK, or key, or whatever.

right..the laptop has the key and shows as connected...but even though it shows connected it cant even access the internet through the router let alone see the network...

Are you 100% sure you've entered the right key? Windows doesn't always tell you if you've entered a key incorrectly.

youre right. I was entering the ascii key and it was showing as connected. only when i entered the full hex key did it work ok.
