Maybe i have the wrong end of the stick but what was happening is that the wi-fi signal in my room was a bit low. So I thought that buying an extender would help so I bought one.

So I have linked it to my router. But on my laptop I am not sure if i should be connecting to Router or the Extender? There are TWO SSID's listed (one for router, another one for my extender).

The speed hasn't gone up and the wi-fi connection keeps on going down/up.

So can anyone help me with setting it up properly?

Do i need to go into my computer IP/gateways settings and change them to my Extender?

Also does extender just "extends" the range as oppose to "making it stronger"?

Put the extender in the middle, or wherever the signal is strongest.

Connect it to your router, there is an option to search for access points and you connect via MAC address.

Enter wireless security info (I think).

You'll mow see two identical SSID on your remote device.

Connect to the strongest.

The extender acts like a relay. Throughput isn't wonderful but is much better than trying to work with a weak signal.
