Wireless Faster than Ethernet

Hi, I have just realised my Wifi on my lap top is much faster than my ethernet PC.

I'm using powerline adapters for the ethernet but although it might slow it a bit it surely shouldn't be this much?

I'm not getting much DL speed from Sky anyway (12mbps which is coming in at 880kbps on ethernet and 4mbps on wifi) so obviously those extra mbps do make a bit of difference!

I've tried different ports, have up to date drivers etc but making no difference.

Thinking of just getting a wireless adapter to be honest, do these dongles work well or should i get one for the motherboard?

Thanks folks

What powerline set do you have? Bare in mind they will usually sync at a lot lower speed than rated, depending on your home's electrical wiring.

Most powerline manufacturers will provide software to show you the actual current sync rate between the two powerline adapters, so it might be worth checking that.
