Wasnt sure if this should have gone in hardware or Windows.

I have just spent the last hour trying to troubleshoot a laptop that had a flakey wireless connection, tried litterally everything to make it work better and was getting nowhere.

It was connecting to wireless, but pinging the wireless router or any device on the network was showing about 65% loss of packets.

Then the battery started running low so I plugged it in and all of a sudden, the ping is perfect and steady no lost packets what-so-ever.

Co-Incidence I thought to unplugged it again and all of a sudded I am losing packets once more.

I have checked the power management tab in the network settings and disabled the "allow this device to be turned off to save power" option, but this makes no difference.

Anyone any ideas how I get the wireless working proerly when not on the charger?

It is an Acer TravelMate 6410 laptop with an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG card.

THanks in advance!

Well managed to get it solved!!! Thank *@@!@*

Is a known issue with that model of wireless card and some AP's then you have to set some little out of the way setting on the card itself that you can disable and Bingo!!! sorted!
