Hi

Can anyone recomend a half decent wireless gaming headset with microphone? Ive seen a few about but they seem pricey. If they arent worth the cash then whats a decent wired headset. Ive got very fond of my big comfy wireless headphones, but I could do with a mic and my wireless headphones have seen better days.

Cheers

You will get some lag with a wireless one. Why not go for a wired?

Which ones have you seen til now?

Hi,

I guess it boils down to what you actualy want to spend and what quality you want. There is nothing wrong with a decent headset and a seperate mic. I used to buy headsets with a mic on a boom only. I'm use a seperate Mic, it sits under my monitor and is perfect. Take a look in the 'sound city' forum. You would get a better answer in there. You could just buy another pair of wireless headphones and use a sepeate mic.

They cost next to nothing, I was advised to purchase this: 'Elara clip-on microphone' if you google it you will be able to find it on the web. I already have a similar mic and was looking at getting the sennheiser gaming headset originally until I was advised to get the HD555's/HD595's. Not wireless but a good set of wired headphones.

cheers

Afraid I don't know of any wireless ones, but I can guarantee you that most sets of wired ones will have long wires, and they should not get in the way.

I use a Creative Fatal1ty - great headset, around £20-30 at the moment - so good value for money. If you want something better, take a look at the Razer Piranha and Steelseries 5hv2, both very good headsets. Can't go wrong with any Sennheiser either.

i doubt there will be any lag, and if there is i really doubt a 1ms lag will be easily detectable, i was looking for this but they dont have any decent ones... they are all small and look uncomfortable...

Looking forward to slowly making everything on my desk wireless

Wireless headphones/speakers are pants, and pc headsets arrn't much better.

Get yourself a nice pair of sennheiser headphones with cable extension if needed and enjoy good quality sound, rather than fatalialit1yt1yty rubbing himself all over your ears ;)

Hmm, im not sure I like the sound of Fatal1ty rubbing himself over my ears? :)

At present I have a mic on my monitor that is litterally 30cm away from me and the sound is crud, which is why im looking for a headset mic. But if there are better seperate mics then I might try them, although i fancy the ability to mute from the headset/mic, and not to have to raise my voice atall

The other problem with wireless ones is that you constantly have to recharge/replace the batteries. It's a pain in the arse if you just want to play and not mess about. I also find that their quality lacks as more time and money has to be spent on developing the wireless aspect of the product than the actual speaker and microphone quality.

I found a cheap headset in a local computer shop for only £5. I expected them to be awful, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were better than the £35 pair I owned previously. Sometimes the cheap solution is also the best!

Rite, looks like ive been convinced that wired is a better option for games anyway. ill keep my Wireless ones for chillin with some music.

Seen as I want to have a close mic and the ability to mute it, it looks like a headset. So, any recomendations on that front?
