Wireless help please

Hiya currently have a wireless router at home, but my pc is out of range from it, but I have a canle coming to my room. But I am getting a PS3 and it is nowhere near a wireless network or a network cable :eek:

The options I have are use the Asus Solo-Ap (ie use my pc as an access point), but means it always has to be on or in sleep. But it doesn't work to well in Vista from what I have gather (atm use Vista as my primary OS).

The other option is to buy another wireless router but for my room. This seems better as I dont have to leave PC on. But I have never setup a network before and will it be okay having a network within a network? We dont really share files too often and if I need too can put it on a DVD tbh. But will this work the best and if so just get a cheap bog standard wireless router?

The third options seems getting a switch and a wireless access point but seems twice the money and then I will have two boxes!

That might work, but is quite a distance because I am above the garage which isn't attatched to the house. But should work as we have like an intercom that goes through the power.

But it says the connection is 10Mbps RH-45, does this mean that I can only have a 10Mbps connection between my pc and PS3?
