Just finished building a little Media Centre PC for my Living room. At the moment I'm using a Netgear WG311V2 Wireless Card in it. It seems to connect to my Network fine until my Partner switches the Laptop on and suddenly the connection breaks & cant find a signal. Checked the router settings and everything seems fine. Any ideas as I'm puzzled & rubbish @ networking?

That sounds like a conflict. Almost certainly an IP conflict or SSID conflict. I assume the Media box has a static IP? this is probably conflicting with the DHCP address given to the laptop.
