I recieved a nice new wireless keyboard and mouse at christmas, but seem to be having a problem with battery life on the keyboard. It was supplied with a basic pair of AA's, and they only lasted about three days, the low battery light on the keyboard never lit up though. The mouse has been fantastic, came with NiMH AAA's and it easily lasts two full days before going into the wireless receiver for an overnight charge.

I've tried several sets of batteries in the ketboard now (only cheap throw-aways), and 3 days seems to be aslong as it'll go. Is this about right by other peoples experiences?

it will be for heavy useage yes, get some nice 3500mh rechargeables, they will last a lot longer though will cost you about £10 for 2 or 4 (depending on manufacturer)

mmm, I might just look out for a black ps2 keyboard then, as it looks as though I'd have a set on charge every couple of days.

Using an old Microsoft blue tooth keyboard, and these eat batteries - but three days! this lasts three to four months, being used professionally (as in all the time) for 10-12 hours per day (takes 2xAA and use 1800mAh rechargeables)

Mouse batteries, again heavy usage, last about 1-2 weeks (same battery stock as the kb.)

Logitech ones, and newer Microsoft ones normally last months

i tend to find a pair of duracell batteries last about 6-12 months in my logitech keyboard, what model is your wireless keyboard?

I use more than most peeps as work from home and you should get at least 6 months out of Duracell in the KB ( I have the Logitech MX3100 kit so Elite KB and use Duracell M3's.

I had a Logitech Kit before using batteries every few days after a spill of lemonade into it, I did strip and clean it but it acted up still.

What KB did you get? my S510 is still running on the same batteries over a year on and that's with several hours usage every day in games/photoshop/surfing etc.

Sorry not been on for a few days due to work (trucker). It's an I.T. Works package, 27Mhz wireless via a USB transceiver. As I said before the strange thing is that the low battery light hasn't come on, but it does stop responding after a couple of days.

I'll give it another go with some fresh smartprice AA's and see how long it lasts this time.

Forget the last post, I just set it back up with the original batteries and it's working fine, for now!

The compact lay-out and uber cheap sound/feel of the spacebar are doing my nut in already after 5 mins though.

Well it was all working fine until I started up yesterday morning, suddenly the keyboard just didn't want to play. Tried resetting the connection, this resulted in it working for about 20 seconds each time it was reset. Tried it with some brand new duracells, same thing going on.

I was rather annoyed by this point, having spent an hour trying to get it to work, so poped out to tesco's, and spent £3 on a black PS/2 keyboard. The keys are a bit tall (liked the low-profile of the wireless board) but it works perfectly fine, and has the bonus of the keys being in the same locations, size and shape as my previous wired keyboard.

The wireless mouse is still working perfectly, even after having not been charged up since last weekend.
