I've just set up an old SFF PC I had lying around as a media centre so I can plug it into the TV and do stuff with it. Since it'll be operated from the sofa I want a wireless keyboard/mouse solution so I don't have to wander across the room to use it.

I've seen a few keyboard with intergrated touchpad options about, are they any good? How cheap can I realistically go and not end up with something unusable?

I have a Rii Mini, which is a small, remote-control-sized keyboard/touchpad.

I have the USB receiver plugged into the front of my HTPC, behind a metal flip-down panel, and it just starts to cut out if I lay back on the sofa (but sitting up, or holding it by my knees, it is just fine)

The front edge of my sofa is about 10ft away from the front of the HTPC.

For the very few times I need to use it, it does the job perfectly well. It's not used full-time, I use a Microsoft MCE remote 99% of the time, as most of the stuff that's done is with Kodi, not the Windows desktop.

^^ That's the other way, there's plenty of options out there for both iOS and Android.

However, of course, the smartphone option only works when you're into the operating system, whereas at least a physical keyboard can be used for BIOS etc.

I've been looking at the Rii Mini i8+ to control my Intel NUC running Kodi/OpenElec.

I'm currently using my Sony TV remote via a CEC adaptor but there are a couple of drawbacks as follows:

1) I can't use it to boot up (I can if I hibernate but I like to power the NUC down completely)

2) Typing with the on-screen keyboard is a pain - especially if I'm having to do any manual media scraping!

Can you set the Rii Mini i8+ to be able to wake on lan??
