Right, i've set up a small wireless (and 1 wired) network up in my house. All the connections go to the Netgear router / gateway / modem.

They all connect to the internet and I can print files downstairs (using a dedicated print server) So i know at lease some of the sharing works.

The domains have all been set up the same and i've checked the TCP/IP settings, it's all done via DHCP for ease (i've tried manually assigning Static IP's but it's the same)

I can share folders between pc's so I can access a folder by sharing it an running \\computera\shared folder but if I just do \\computera it denies me access saying I don't have access? Annoymous access is also enabled (although this shouldn't matter) and i'm not sure what to do next?

It's not a firewall issue either.. Do users need setting up on each PC? eg does 'computera' need an account on 'computerb' and vice versa in the local security policy?

I need this to work as i'm trying to set up a remote shutdown via SMS working. 'shutdown \\computera -s' as computers sometimes get left on over night (yes I could use scheduled tasks with a batch file, but getting this working would be useful in other ways too)

I disabled the guest accounts on both pc's I then went to the group policies and added administrator into guest. It's now spot on but is there a more secure way to acheive the same result?
