I have a Packard Bell Easynote R4. Built in wireless lan was working 100% then started saying it couldn't find any wireless networks in range.

Installed a fresh copy of XP and still have the problem. Its finding the hardware, searching for networks but finding nothing.....

When booting I am also getting the following message:

Realtek RTL8139(x)/8130/810x Boot Agent
Press Shift+F10 to configure......

For Realtek RTL8139(x)/8130/810x PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.13
PXE-E61: Media text failure, check cable.
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE.

Any ideas?

Network Stumbler is telling me a device connected to the system isn't working properly.

If the built-in wireless is able to search and its hardware profile says it working, surely it would be ok?

USB Wireless device is working fine.
